HHN 2024: The First House Announcement

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando has made its first House announcement of the year, Slaughter Sinema 2! Slaughter Sinema 2 will be a sequel to the B movie mashup house Slaughter Sinema from HHN 2018. As part of HHN 2024, this house promises to bring back the nostalgic feel of 1990s B horror films, offering guests a terrifying trip down memory lane.

The Revival of Slaughter Sinema

What to Expect from Slaughter Sinema 2

Like most original Halloween Horror Nights houses, Slaughter Sinema 2 has a unique backstory. The house takes place in Carey, Ohio, a fictional town hosting many of Halloween Horror Nights’ terrifying stories. The setup mimics a B-movie marathon at the local drive-in movie theater. This marathon will be showing eight B movies in a row. Each of the eight movies will be a room in the house. This anthology style will allow the designers to create eight mini houses within a single HHN house.

Looking Into The Past

The original Slaughter Sinema house was a fan favorite of 2018. It has become one of the few Halloween Horror Nights Original Houses to spawn both a sequel, and spinoffs. Slaughter Sinema 2018 also consisted of eight different rooms themed after fake B movies.

These Rooms were theme after:

  • Pumpkin Guts -Killer pumpkins come to life, spilling vivid pumpkin guts in a chilling autumn atmosphere.
  • Cult of the Beast Baby -A demonic baby brings horror to a ritualistic setting, filled with disturbing imagery.
  • Barber Chop -A deranged barber attacks his customers with blood-soaked barber chairs and gruesome tools.
  • Amazon Cannibals from Planet Hell -Amazonian cannibals from another planet wreak havoc in a jungle setting filled with alien creatures.
  • Midnight Snacks 2: The House Swarming -Giant insects infest a house, delivering creepy, crawly scares with lifelike animatronics.
  • The Devil Dogs -Demonic war dogs go rogue, attacking soldiers in a military bunker setting.
  • Schittie’s Kidz -Evil puppets cause mayhem in a creepy puppet workshop, featuring lifelike animatronics.
  • Attack of the Swamp Yeti- A monstrous yeti terrorizes the residents of a dark and eerie swamp.

The final room of the House, Attack of the Swamp Yeti, inspired two spinoff houses, “Yeti: Yukon of Terror” in 2019 and “Yeti: Campground Kills.” These two spinoffs were highlights of their years. Many horror fans consider Campground Kills to be the best House from the 2023 event. It will be interesting to see if Slaughter Sinema 2 has any single standout scenarios that lead to more Halloween Horror Nights Houses in future years.

HHN 2024 Teases and Hints

This year, Halloween Horror Nights is taking a different turn with its marketing. The first big trailer hinted at some sort of entity as a possible Icon. Then this, the first house reveal, bucked previous trends by showcasing an original house rather than an intellectual property house.

Hints about Slaughter Sinema have secretly circulated for months. When Halloween Horror Nights 2024 tickets were put on sale in March, Universal debuted a new Halloween Horror Nights Tshirt to commemorate the start of the HHN 2024 Season. The orange shirt was a stark departure from the regular black offerings of the past, but it was also a secret tease of things to come. The punk skulls seen on the shirt, and expanded on in the second shirt released this week, will be a scare actor character in Slaughter Sinema 2. Dubbed “Heave Metal Skeleton”, the character will appear in the Heavy Metal Hell 3-D section of the House. This is the only named section that has been confirmed, but there will also be rooms based on monster movies, gory grindhouse films, spaghetti westerns, and up to four more themes.

Conclusion: Why You Shouldn’t Miss HHN 2024

HHN 2024 is shaping up to be an unforgettable event, with Slaughter Sinema 2 at its heart.
